Brian Wightman is an educator, executive leader, former Cabinet Minister, and football coach whose career has spanned education, government, business, the union movement, and high-performance sport.

A former school principal, Brian served in the Tasmanian Parliament as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Environment, Parks, Heritage, and Education, leading significant legislative and policy reform. He later spent six years leading the Property Council of Australia in Tasmania and is now State Manager of the Australian Education Union Tasmanian Branch.

Alongside his professional career, Brian coaches in Tasmania’s Women’s Super League.

Drawing on more than three decades of leadership experience, Brian writes and speaks about leadership, influence, difficult decisions, organisational culture, and what happens when authority alone is no longer enough.

His perspective is shaped as much by setbacks and changing roles as achievement, and by a continuing belief that good leadership is ultimately about helping others perform, grow, and lead.
